Bolton No 7 Mill Engine project is now already to start. I have purchased the stock materials, studied the drawings and all set to rock n roll. As I said previously, I am not buying any castings due to the cost and wait time involved, so I made a start on fabricating the base.
I really wanted to use S1214 grade (coloured Pink) steel as it a free machining type, but not all the sizes were available, so the next best was CS1020 (coloured Yellow). The piece of round bar (coloured Pink/Yellow is cast iron for the piston.
After I collected the steel, I also took a trip to Hare and Forbes for some new inserts for my turning tools (and a few extra goodies!!)
Next post should see some further progress if SWMBO will stop adding things to the “to do” list !@!
